Non-Surgical Rejuvenation

BOTOX® CosmeticBOTOX®

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a simple, nonsurgical, physician-administered treatment that can temporarily smooth moderate to severe frown lines between the brows in people from 18 to 65 years of age. It is the only treatment of its type approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium, which reduces the activity of the muscles that cause those frown lines between the brows to form over time.

One 10-minute treatment—a few tiny injections—and within days there's a noticeable improvement in moderate to severe frown lines between the brows, which can last up to 4 months. Results may vary.

Botulinum toxins were first researched in the late 1960s to treat neurological disorders. Botox was first approved by the FDA in 1989 to treat eye muscle disorders (blepharospasm, uncontrollable blinking, and strabismus, crossed eyes). In 2000, it was approved to treat cervical dystonia (a disorder that causes severe neck and shoulder contractions). As an unusual side effect of the eye disorder treatment, doctors observed that Botox® softened the frown lines between the eyebrow.

Facial Slimming - Prominent Jaw Reduction

BOTOX® injections are a relatively safe way of slimming down the facial bulkiness, roundness, or square jaws caused by masseter muscle hypertrophy. Individuals who have particularly strong masseter muscles or those who tend to grind their teeth while they sleep are especially prone to developing chubby or squarish looking facial features. Especially among Asians, where slim almond shaped facial features are especially desireable, Botox injections can be used to quickly and safely slim down round or square facial features. To contour the jawline, BOTOX is injected into the masseter muscle.? As the muscle is weakened in a particular region, some bulk of this muscle is reduced, resulting in a more tapered jawline. Reducing the appearance of a wide jawline can help establish improved facial harmony and thereby elevate one's attractiveness.

Calf Reduction

The toxin is injected to gasctrocnemius muscle, about 1 week later, the circumference of calf will start to shrink, because the peripheral motor nerves to gasctrocnemius are blocked by the injections giving a more streamlined leg enhancing the feminine appeal especially in cheongsams. Because the muscle is quite large, a lot of the medication is needed each time. The costs can br high in most cases. Each time! But the good news is that after 3-5 sessions at about 2 months apart, the muscle is "permanently" shrunk.

"Permanent" in the sense that only a top-up every couple of years is needed.

Hyperhidrosis Reduction

Hyperhidrosis is a troublesome problem that results in awkward social situations for those that are affected. This condition can either affect your work or create uncomfortable or embarrassing situations. Unfortunately, topical and oral medications, iontophoresis, and surgery have not proven to be efficacious in the majority of patients. In fact surgery can result in compensatory hyperhidrosis in other parts of the body. Because the eccrine glands are innervated by sympathetic nerves that use acetylcholine as the neurotransmitter, BOTOX® is effective in temporarily reducing or abolishing sweat production in treated areas.

Migraine Headaches

Botox injections for chronic migraines were discovered accidentally during clinical testing for BOTOX® Cosmetic. When test patients who normally suffered from headaches reported fewer facial lines and fewer migraines, Botox began its progression from popular cosmetic treatment to medical remedy. For constant sufferers of the severe headaches known as migraines, Botox injections are becoming well-known as a successful treatment.
